History In The Making
Learn about the history of clothing and its influences on the fashion of today and combine it with your design and sewing skills to create a historically inspired garment and show it off in our end-of-camp runway show for your family and friends! Students must have taken Intro to Sewing, Teach Me to Sew Camp, Stitch-Style-Create or have equivalent experience being able to thread and use their sewing machines with minimal assistance.
Taught by a working designer with a Master's in Fashion History, this class would be perfect for homeschoolers, future historians, theatrical costumers, cosplayers and would-be fashion designers alike.
Materials list:
-Sketch book
-Drawing tools (pencils, sharpener, colored pencils, eraser)
-Basic sewing kit (pins, hand sewing needles, fabric and paper scissors)
-Bring your sewing machine or rent one of ours
There will be a variety of fabric, patterns and notions available for students to choose from but they usually want to purchase something else once they’ve finalized their design after Day 1.
