Learn Textile Recycling this Summer to make new clothes, accessories, and fiber art.
In this exciting new workshop, we’ll show you how to create your style, whether it’s a post-apocalyptic theme, minimalist, romantic, bohemian, or something else!
Discover where sewing meets art through hands-on instruction with various fibers and textiles.
Experiment with surface design techniques such as painting on fabric and appliques, adding hardware, ripping, and freestyle stitching.
On summer afternoons, in the middle of the hottest part of the day, come in to get creative and put down your devices. Teens can come into the studio and hang out with their peers to learn about design while expressing their personal style. They can create a variety of clothing, home decor, and Upcycled" eco-art.”
Your teen will learn new design and construction skills each week. The instructor will demonstrate the new techniques in the first hour on the first day, and then they will use what they know and learn to create earth-friendly clothing and accessories with help to guide them for the rest of the week.
Here are the dates and what we’ll be focussing on for the following weeks:
Mon-Thurs July 8-11: Upcycling to make clothes and/or unusual hybrid plushies
July 15-19: Upcycling to make clothes and/or bags using hardware
July 22-26: Boro and Frankenstein Stitching to connect seams and decorate
July 29-Aug 2: Art To Wear: Mixed Media on Jackets and Vests
Aug 5-9: Layering and Mixing Clothes: Combining two or more garments to make one amazing garment
Aug 12-16: Mix It Up!: Recycle, Embellish, Decoratively Mend, Re-Purpose
Start any week. Choose as many weeks as you like. You’ll get a 10% rebate if you register for more than one week or register yourself and a friend. Prices are per student. Workshops are limited to six participants per class.
$300 for one week
We will supply all the materials and tools, so they don’t have to bring anything.
Ages 13-17 with the knowledge of how to set up their machine and sew. If you need to grab a class for them to learn how to use a machine, please register here for Intro To Machine Sewing.
