Bring some comfort to your wardrobe as Instructor Jamie Hevener teaches you the basics of sewing joggers.
SKILLS YOU WILL GAIN:
sewing with stretchy fabrics,
measuring for a proper fit,
and adding a drawstring or elastic waistband with buttonholes
SKILLS YOU ALREADY NEED TO HAVE:
how to set up, use, and change settings of a home sewing machine
knowledge of how to work with a commercial pattern for a garment and experience of having sewn a garment from a pattern,
how to select the right fabric to determine the appropriateness for a jogger-pant
BRING TO CLASS:
Your sewing machine or rent one of ours for $10,
ballpoint needles, an all-purpose thread, 1 1/2 yards of 3/4” wide non-roll or woven elastic, and
Pre-laundered sweatshirt fleece, modal fleece, ponte, cotton-blend terry cloth or medium-heavy weight cotton jersey knit with a cotton blend and 10-20% stretch.
*optional: 1/2 yard of ribbed knit fabric with at least 40% stretch for the waistband and cuffs
60” wide fabric: 2 1/2y for sizes S-M, 3y for L to 3X: See pattern for yardage requirements,
a printed/assembled PDF pattern: The Mel Jogger by Seamwork
Additional pattern options other than The Mel Jogger are True Bias Hudson (these have the advantage of having a women's, men's and kid's version), or the Brassie Joggers.
PDF patterns must be assembled or be printed as an AO-sized copy by a copyshop.
Pins, ball-point machine needles, marking pens, rotary cutter, fabric shears and all-purpose thread.
$65 for two 2-hour classes
Cost for Private, One-On-One class: $95
You must know how to set up and sew with a sewing machine and use a sewing pattern.
