Sewing a great-fitting shirt is an essential skill builder! This course is taught by Gail.

SKILLS YOU WILL GAIN: In this three-session ( total of 8 hours) workshop, you will learn how to alter and grade your pattern, use fusible interfacing, install a yoke, sew set-in sleeves, install a collar stand and a shirt collar, install a placket with buttonholes, and sew on cuffs. Also, you may want to add patch pockets or learn edge stitching techniques.
Once you register, Gail will call you to schedule dates and times and provide sizing information so you can order the correct-size pattern. We will also discuss the material for this shirt.
BRING TO CLASS:
Womenswear: Vogue# 8772, or Cashmerette Harrison. Menswear: McCalls 6044, or Simplicity 8753.
pre-laundered fabrics, facing and interfacing requirements, and notions per your chosen pattern. (No silky fabrics)
sewing machine, or borrow one of ours, and all sewing tools.

Please wash or dry-clean your fabric before the first session, as we will be cutting it out then.
You may schedule the sessions with a friend. Max of 2 students.
Cost is $280 per student.

Take your sewing skills to a whole new level while you learn fitting and tailoring techniques to apply to your apparel-making from now on!
You’ll begin by learning how and where to shop for appropriate patterns, notions, and fabrics online as Gail guides you at The Sewing Hive.
Then take a week's break to gather and prepare fabrics for classes.
Sheath Dress Fitting and Making: three 2- to 2.5-hour sessions.
You will use your choice of Style Arc’s Sussex Dress, Butterick 4386, or New Look 6524.
Most of the sewing will be done in class, but there will be some homework between classes.
Prerequisite: Stitch-Style-Create II
Adults only.
Once you register, Gail will call you to schedule dates and times and provide sizing information so you can order the correct-size pattern. She will coach you on fabric types and notions and make sure you have the right skills before you begin.
Classes are Private with you and the teacher. Cost is $300 per student.
